So I just beat it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAEDQwMtf4oIt's hard to really talk about it so early after beating it. I know i still have quite a few more things to do including 2 optional bosses (1 of which has been the bane of my existance for several days now) but the main story is done so here are my initial feelings
- This game is FUCKING HUGE. Note the caps and explatives. I thought the game was long before I hit the end game. This isn't even counting the optional shit you can do that includes something like 4 or 5 optional bosses at least one of which being tougher then the final one. Like i wish I could give a better impression in words but the thing is I got to what I thought was the final area and the game was like lol nope you still have 2/3 of the game to complete lolololololololol
- From must have been hiiiiigggggghhhh when they said that this game would be easier to get into and have a more easily understood plot. The simple fact is that this game is about as intutive to play as the original Demon Souls... ok maybe not that bad but its tough and it doesn't fuck around. You can miss entire bonfires simply because you hadn't pushed X next to the right wall so I really hope the players are being nice that day and leave clues where hidden walls are.
- The overall narrative is the weakest in the series. It's sad to say that because it really had potential to be Demon Souls level intriguing with Dark Souls level depth but instead it kind of half asses both. It isn't bad mind you, it's still far better then most games and there is at least 1 boss fight that nearly made me cry so i'll admit it has something to it. With that said the speculation train is in full overload with the plot. There is a metric ton of references to Dark Souls 1 but some of them are so subtle you would have had to been paying quite a bit attention to both to catch them
- Overall I haven't had much experience in PVP, The only time was summoning a few DragonBros to fight for fun and getting pulled into a RatBros world which was pretty entertaining I'll admit even if I did die really really fast.
- I had to look up a few answers to problems that were given me trouble. Sometimes it was just info on how to get better upgrade equipment and other times it was finding out how to burn a windmill's fan down. With little exception do i think the game is cheap. It does feel a bit lazy at times because i feel like they balanced with enemies not reccuring after a set amount of kills. Some of the stronger enemies are a nightmare to deal with but no real "fuck you" style choke points like the Dark Souls Archers of Anor Londo. With that said the Ancient Dragon is a cheap mother fucker who can die in a pit of fire. Good thing is that he is completely optional.
My next post will probably be spoilerific so I'll use tags and stuff.
