| Daiji sat in his office behind his desk filling out a huge stack of paperwork that had been waiting for him while he had made his rounds. He had heard Lakshmi mention bringing her boyfriend on to help, but he had yet to meet the man. If Lakshmi liked him, Daiji was sure he would too.
Daiji hated sitting in his small cramped office. It was dusty and full of files, in one corner they were stacked to the ceiling. This wasn't even the worst room in squad four. There was one records room...no one went in there...ever. It wasn't safe. Imagine that, the healing squad had the biggest safety hazard.

| So..assist with paperwork, Kaimu repeated the request in his mind; it seemed the lieutenant had a lot of work piled up, and that it was likely weighing on him. So as the assistant, he should go and...assist the man with the workload.
There were probably papers that only the lieutenant could work on, but there were probably more that could be simply done by anyone. They could split the work then...
Lak-tan seemed fine with her own work...so he wasn't as worried, and was doing what was asked of him.
Reaching the office, he gave a knock to the door. "Miura Kaimu...I was asked to assist you with your paperwork."

| Well, speaking of the devil. Lakshmi must have sent her new beau to assist Daiji with his work load. That was really sweet of her. Daiji looked up from his work, and good see the outline of a redheaded man through the smokey glass of his office door.
"Come in Kaimu!"
Daiji looked back down to his papers, and started sorting some out for Kaimu. He was so grateful for the help. Normally he'd have to bribe one of the nurses to help him tote it to it's proper destination.
"I am so happy you've come to help me. My name is Daiji, by the way."

| Kaimu entered the office with Daiji's permission, giving a nod of acknowledgment as well as a small smile to the man after he'd introduced himself.
When it came to work, his typical self was toned down for the most part; it had been this way even when he'd been in Ninth. His jolly mask was just a mask after all, it'd just stuck.
"Seems like you have quite the workload." He commented, noticing all the paperwork that needed doing. "It's no problem though, for me to help; It's my duty as an assistant after all~"
There was some of that disposition...though dim in comparison to what he could really manage.

| "I do."
Daiji said with a small sigh as he continued to fill out the papers before him. He felt rude for not greeting the man properly, but he needed to stick to his work load.
"It's really kind of yo...."
Daiji trailed off as he looked up. The man standing before him was not only stunning, but...Daiji could see the aura of power emanating from the man. A lump formed in Daiji's throat, that he forced down.
"A-a-ah...pl-please have a s-s-seat."
The lump that was in Daiji's throat, now moved to his pants. Death, death was imminent. If he had to move for any reason, whatsoever, he would die of embarrassment. Not only would the squad not let him live this down, but he knew Lakshmi would especially find it funny.

| Stuttering?
Kaimu didn't let his confusion show on it, but it wasn't something he expected. He'd stepped inside and suddenly the man was a stuttering mess almost. What? Was something wrong?
"Alright." Accepting Daiji's suggestion, he took his seat; "Now, let's see... I'll start on a pile and move on when I finish, that's acceptable, yes?"
Another small smile; if the man was nervous well...it was best to see if he could at least show there was nothing to be nervous about...even if for now the nervousness wasn't even something Kaimu understood.

| Breathe Daiji. Just take deep breaths. He's just a man. He's no more special than you.
Daiji managed to calm himself a little. Enough to form a mostly proper sentence anyway. That lump was still very much there. He just hoped he wouldn't be called out of the office for anything right away. He'd just die. JUST DIE.
"Y-yes, yes. Thank you very much Kaimu."
Good, very good. At least he didn't look like a complete idiot just now. He'd have to try and make conversation some kind of way. What could they possibly talk about?
"So...K-kaimu, how do you like the squad so f-far?"

| "Welcome." Kaimu nodded, looking down at some of the paperwork he'd taken; most of it required signatures, small reports...simple enough. He could easily help with these things.
Hn?
"Ah, it's nice; I'm still learning a few things when it comes to stronger healing kidou, but it's nice..." He answered; working in the Fourth Division wasn't bad, though his skill lay in the other forms of kidou. He was here on orders though, as Lakshmi's assistant~
He didn't mind one bit about working here, he was able to help Lakshmi when she needed it.

| Daiji listened to Kaimu talk, his nerves still bubbling in his stomach. At least Kaimu was enjoying his time in squad four. Daiji felt like he might be sick. Why was he such a nervous wreck around people who were stronger than him? He didn't understand it.
"Well, I...I am glad! I am better at healing kido, but I can cast a pretty decent barrier."
That wasn't so hard. The small talk was helping Daiji ease his mind a little. That lump though...oh buddy. Now that he thought about it though, he didn't know anything about Kaimu. He would at least like to try and be friends with him.
"So Kaimu...you know a lot of kido? Were you in squad nine?"

| Kaimu gave a nod to Daiji's question as he worked on the paperwork he'd taken on; "Mhm, I used to work under Ninth; I'm skilled in most of the other kido forms, but I'm still no expert at healing."
He was definitely learning though~
It'd been a long time since he'd worked with Norma-tan in the Ninth, but he'd visited her many times before being pardoned.
Now that he was Lakshmi's assistant, he could help her with things! The number one thing was to make sure she didn't overwork herself, it wasn't allowed in the slightest!

| "Oh! T-thanks pretty neat. I treat Captain Higgins for her arthritis sometimes."
The small talk was working for poor Daiji. It was taking his mind off of his nerves, and helping ease his mind. The "lump" was beginning to shrink, which made Daiji take a sigh of relief, but he wasn't out of the woods yet. He wanted to offer Kaimu something to drink, but that would require him to get up, and that would be no good at all.
"Maybe...m-m-maybe we could tutor each other in kido? I could help you with healing, and you could help me with the offensive aspect?"

| Tutor one another in kido?
Kaimu hadn't expected such an offer; Lakshmi was teaching him things...but of course she was busy, and he didn't want her overworking herself. He never really communicated unless necessary with other division members, talking when he was spoken to and the like... this offer though, it was an offer of mutual learning...and it was one many would likely want him to accept.
If not, and he went along like he typically did, he might get a scolding...
Despite the many thoughts in his mind, it didn't take long at all for him to come to an answer considering the circumstances.
"That seems fine, I wouldn't mind it." He nodded, looking up from the paperwork and over to Daiji with his mismatched eyes as he offered another small smile before returning to the paperwork.
He would learn better healing kido quicker, and the lieutenant could learn a thing or two about offensive kido...

| Great! Kaimu would help him! It would also be nice to have another set of able hands around the squad. Things were already tight enough around her. Daiji was lucky he even had enough of a free moment to get some of this paperwork done. If an emergency came in though, he'd have to run off.
Thinking about training his kido with Kaimu helped ease his nerves a ton. It was good that his mind was distracted. He filled out his paperwork with ease now that he wasn't falling all over himself.
"I'm glad to finally be able to learn some more offensive kido. Well, at least to be able to get a better handle on what I already know. Healing kido can be really complex, but don't sweat it too much. We won't jump into the deep end."

| Kaimu gave a small nod, he'd help Daiji improve on his offensive kido; he knew a decent amount about healing kido, but he was no expert with it, his skills in that department were improving with Lakshmi's help, but they should improve at a better rate with the lieutenant's assistance as well.
If he could strengthen his abilities further, then he would be able to be of more help as an assistant should be.
For now, he could heal a little bit above basic injuries, and at least close some lacerations, but he needed to be able to do more considering the trouble some shinigami got into during missions.

| This was all very good. Daiji was pleased with this. He was gonna finally get to polish his kido skills, and he was going to be able to help someone with their's. Helping people was Daiji's first love. This was just was he needed to get him back into his work frame of mind, knocking his nerves to the side.
"Kaimu, would you like something to eat or drink?"
Daiji Had a little mini fridge in his office that he kept some drinks and snacks in. Mostly fruit and juices, but it was better than nothing if Kaimu wanted something.
"I have some fruit and some juice."

| "That would be nice, thank you." Kaimu accepted Daiji's offer as he continued to look over the work, whatever drinks the man had to offer would be fine; he wasn't particularly picky about it, it was a work-snack, "Fruit and juice is fine."
Perhaps the refreshments would help keep them focused, there could be small talk here and there, but it was important to get this work done...

| "Very well."
Daiji chirped with a smile. He pushed back his rolling chair, and opened the little fridge next to his desk. Inside was a bottle of apple juice, and some grapes. He had some carrot sticks too. Daiji grabbed the bottle of juice, and the grapes along with the carrots and sat them on his desk. He opened the bottom left drawer of his desk, and grabbed two glasses.
"I'd offer you some ice, but I've not quite figured out how to fit an ice maker in here yet."

| "Thaaaank you~!" Kaimu chimed, his tone going into the typical happy state most typically saw of him in as he accepted the snacks and juice as Daiji retrieved and set them on the desk. He offered a smile as well, though it faded once his eyes returned to the paperwork.
True though, it would be difficult to fit an ice machine in here...
"No ice is fine, I'm sure the juice will be just as good." He added, letting the man know it was fine as he took a grape and popped it into his mouth.

| "You're welcome, and very well."
Daiji poured himself a glass of juice, and placed the bottle back down on the desk. He brought the glass up to take a sip, but the glass slipped from his hand spilling all over himself. What a klutz.
"Oh crap! I'm such an idiot!"

| Kaimu continued working; they had snacks and refreshments to keep them from neglecting their health if they were to become too focused, so that was good...
There was a lot here, but in a matter of time the piles will have dwindled do-
Ah?
Kaimu's eyes looked up as soon as he heard the sound of the glass hitting...well not the table in a proper manner, as the contents spilled on the lieutenant.
"Aa, there towels anywhere?" He questioned, seeing how Daiji had spilled his entire glass' quantity out and onto himself.
He could get the man a towel at least, though he wanted to know if there were any kept nearby. Luckily, it didn't seem the paperwork had gotten soaked...it was hard to get replacements for most of these documents.
The concern now was getting a towel!

| "Yes, over ther-"
And a loud thump filled the room as Daiji stood up and slipped in a puddle of juice. He fell flat on his back, pushing his chair from behind him and knocking it into the bookshelf behind his desk. The force caused the shelf to rock and sway, when suddenly it spilled forth all its contents. The books and other knickknacks all flew forward onto Daiji, covering him in a pile of books and decorations.
"Kdsgsdg sdgnsdgin!"
Daiji yelled, but his attempts were muffled by all the crap on top of him. How embarrassing. You'd think someone who specialized in healing would be less clumsy.

| "Uwa!" A surprised noise did escape Kaimu as Daiji was suddenly buried under the various contents of the bookshelves. He blinked, his eyes slightly widened with surprised before he shook such an expression from his face.
Right, right... He needed to help the lieutenant resurface from all the knick knacks first.
He did just that, helping by moving the various items off to the sides so the man could breath at least.
"Here, here..." Once he was done he stepped back, giving Daiji his space; the office...was certainly a mess now... "You alright?" He questioned.

| Daiji laid there in shock for a moment as he felt the weight lift off of him. It took him a moment to process what Kaimu had asked. Was he alright? Nope...he wasn't. Well, for the most part yes. His nose on the other hand, was broken.
"My nose is broken...this is the fifth time in a three month period."
How does one break their nose five times in three months? Knocking books on top of you, getting a door slammed in your face, having a patient hit you with their bed pan, tripping and face planting onto cement, and falling out of bed. This is exactly how you break your nose five times in three months.
"I can fix it. I just...I just need a moment for the room to stop spinning."

| Nose... So his nose was broken, Kaimu gave a nod at hearing that, a slight frown on his face. That had to hurt...
Well, this was the Fourth, so...if one was going to get hurt it was best they do it here. He was the lieutenant as well, so he had faith the man could deal with it without much difficulty.
Just as he had thought, Daiji spoke up and said he could fix it...he just needed a moment.
A moment he could have, Kaimu wasn't going to interrupt him or force him to heal it now or anything... Really, it was best to get a hold of oneself first...

| Daiji lay on his back looking up at the tiled ceiling. His face hurt and his head was spinning. He was starting to get a bit drowsy, which most likely pointed to him having a concussion. He might need a little help since he was starting to fade.
"Kaimu, could you find Obie and bring him here? He's the 3rd seat...you probably already knew that."
