On the Eve of Battle (ATTN Sunny)

The city of Barcelona had become a battleground. While nothing overt like bombings of the city had occurred, there have been, nonetheless, many deaths. Adam had done his best to cover these up but such a thing was impossible. He had not participated in the battle directly but was overseeing the repairs and preperations of a different battle to come forth.

He had met with the generals and now he had the rest of the evening to himself. He spent the last evening resting ouside the central command tent overlooking the city with a glass of Chardonnay. His mind turning towards the people he had left to fight in another senseless war

The petite figure of a woman walked through a back ally of Barcelona. She wasn't sure where she was, or why she was here really. She was put on a plane, and sent to some undisclosed location, and told to deal with a situation. What that situation was, she didn't know.

Lada tiptoed through the dirty cobblestone ally, trying to keep the strange liquids on the ground from seeping through the fabric of her shoes. This place smelled, and not in a good way. She was cold, and she was hungry, but it appeared that everyone here spoke Spanish. That was a language that she wasn't very familiar with. She didn't know where to go or how. She was stuck.

"Caesar, our scouts have discovered a strange visitor in town... Someone you might know." The legionnaire hands Adam a photo. He rubs his chin and smirks.

"Bring her here." He said taking a sip of his wine. "Oh and cook some food... maybe a steak? She looks famished."

Somewhere else 2 men in cloaks approach Lada. Their face seemed deadly serious "Miss? You are cordially invited to dine with our Commander. These streets are dangerous for a woman such as yourself."

Lada was near the end of the ally, about to walk out onto the street when she was approached by two men. She was invited to dine with their boss? Who the heck was that? Just then Lada's cell phone chirped, signifying she had a work email.

Lada pulled out her phone and read the email.

Lada,

Your mission is as follows: Find the former King Adam, and slap the fucking hell out of him. Make it hurt.

P.S. A lack of appropriate and proportional amounts of pain will be docked from your wages in the event you do not fulfill the mission to my exacting standards.

Lada was a bit confused, but orders were orders. She looked back up at the men, and at this point it was whatever. If she had to fight her way away from their boss then so be it. This day had been crazy enough so far, might as well tack onto it.

The cloaked legionnaires led Lada to the outskirts of the city into a series of tents with more solemn looking soldiers. When they approached the command tent Adam motioned them to the rather amazing view of the city he had.

"Barcelona... I'll admit I know almost nothing about it except that it holds a lot of supplies these soldiers need. Losing control would make battles more tenuous. As it stands this is my last day here." Adam says swirling his drink in his cup. He stands up and smiles at Lada. His hair was considerably shorter then before, a casualty of war of sorts. Adam cut it to prevent his enemies from grabbing on to him. His eyes seemed even more sullen but overall more clear.

"So... how have you been Lada?"

Lada walked into the tent where...Adam? Well, this was a nice surprise, ish? Well, she would kill two birds with one stone. She'd complete her mission, and she was joining the mystery man who requested her presence.

"Sorry about this Adam."

Lada said right before she walked up to the former king and back handed him. She really did feel bad about it. Although, it couldn't have hurt too badly. She was a lot smaller than him, and the size difference caused her to not connect as well as she should have.

"Selena made me do it, I swear."

Adam felt a bit starstruck and rubbed his cheek tenderly. "Yeah, probably deserved that"

"I hope your orders don't involve more then that though." Adam asked cautiously. You can never be too careful really.

"I'm sorry!"

Lada felt really bad for doing what she did, but an order was an order. To prove she wasn't just being mean, she opened her email to prove it to Adam.

"See, was really an order. As of right now my orders are complete. So, I guess I'm free until something else comes up."

Adam takes a look at the letter and shakes his head. "Well ok then..."

"So what have you been up to? Would you like a drink?" Adam asked more curious than anything

"Thank you!"

Lada said in response to the offer of a drink.

"Not a lot really. Work, and video games. Not much of anything really. How about you?"

Lada's didn't have much excitement to it. She just kinda went through the motions. She had nothing to really motivate her. Sure, she made a good living. She could afford nice things, and she could do fun stuff, but something was missing. She couldn't really put her finger on it tho.

"Retirement has been... Hectic" Adam said with a small smirk and a shake of his head.

"Mostly I've been digging up ancient artifacts. Some Quincy relics and others not so much." He said lightly tapping the long sword sheathed at his waist. He just happened to be leaving out that he expected to have been dead by thus point but life really does lead people in weird directions
