Here Comes Trouble (Doge pt II)

Kaimu stood by as Yuzuki moved to the documents, her interest obvious in her expression as she looked through and picked out one to read. He moved to sit at the table that sat off to the side, the furniture there for anyone that wanted to sit and read rather than stand.

He'd gone over some of the documents in here before, when he'd helped Ijiri organize and clean up one day as a job, reading them whenever he took a break with the organizing. They held information on...a variety of subjects: stories and folklore of the Rukon, historical documentation of important happenings within the districts, information on many of the districts in general, all sorts of things...

His attention was pulled from his thoughts as Yuzuki addressed him, asking him to come and retrieve something off a higher shelf she couldn't reach. Without haven't noticed before she had pulled her sleeves back, some of the tattoos she wore on her skin showing more obviously than they had been before.

"That one? Sure." Kaimu questioned after standing, moving over to where the noble stood to retrieve the scroll she was asking for.

"Yes, good master." Yuzuki nodded smugly as Kaimu retrieved the scroll for her. The one she had pulled referenced another one in regards to the distribution and birth rates in the Rukon as well as significant shifts in population. This was exactly the sort of thing she was looking for! She'd have to come back officially some time and see if she could use these archives for her research.

Taking the scroll, she opened it up and moved to the table while reading, sitting down and examining it with an utter intentness she rarely showed to others. Getting to a part near the begining, she called out to Kaimu once more as she glanced around for him. "Kai? Once more can you get these three titles from the upper sections. This archive is organized similar to my own so they should be... row seventeen, shelf five. Also two in this section... Its referencing these works I am unfamiliar with, I'll need their information first. If only I brought my pens and paper..."

Listing off the titles, her face was rather open for once as well as serene and sure. She seemed to be in her element, much more relaxed.

Good master, it almost sounded like something you'd hear someone saying to their pet...well, not by master obviously unless they were named that. Still...

He glanced over some of the documents as Yuzuki moved to the table, but it wasn't long before she asked him to retrieve a few more documents. He listened to the titles as she spoke them, looking over the shelves and taking them before he brought them over.

"Here you go, if you need anymore just let me know." He said as he moved to take a seat again.

"Good, these are the right ones master. I shall if I need more..." Yuzuki nodded in a sort of thanks, half paying attention and half deciphering this work. The other requested documents were quickly opened as she went over all of them together, going from one to the next to try and get all the information and backing required...

Looking up after a bit she noticed Kaimu sitting there and tilted her head in confusion very much like a confused puppy. Her voice was a bit sharp as she spoke. "...I would have figured Master would have left by now. Off to find something more amusing since this place seems safe enough and I am feeling better. Well enough to transform and go once my work is done."

Kaimu caught Yuzuki's confused look when she'd looked up at him, and was about to ask what was wrong before she'd spoken.

"That wouldn't be very kind of me, for one. It would be rude of me to just get up and leave." He answered. "Besides, I promised to also be on guard for you; those people you gambled with are probably still looking for you, after all. I won't just dump someone I consider a friend off somewhere and  leave either."

He'd leave when she decided that she should head home, it was dangerous out here, even if Ijiri's was safe.

"Well by all standards but a nobles I am being rude to you. Unbearably so. I would not expect a commoner to understand and accept it." Yuzuki spoke as she looked back down, one hand ticking off things on her finger. She was reading and memorizing and speaking, while also ticking off fingers on her hand. Hideki would be so surprised at this.

"Those people might never find me or have given up by now. Also promising Lakshmi is one thing. Besides its not as if you can take me all the way home. You are a vagabond from the Rukon. What shall you do Master, once I do head home? Would you follow me as far as you can?"

Her tone was nonchalant, but Yuzuki was hiding the fear of being left alone out here. Even if she could shift she... might get caught by those men before she could head back. She shivered lightly, hiding her fear under arrogance. "Its not as if I can't escape safely. Master underestimates me."

"I'll stick with you until you decide you need to be heading home, then I'll escort you as far as I can." Kaimu replied, "Even if they might have given up it's still a might, those people aren't the only ones to worry about..."

There were all sorts of thugs out there, no matter what form Yuzuki was in she'd be valuable to them. He didn't mean to possibly scare her but...it was truth. If they wanted money they'd go about any means of getting it.

"I shall be fine Master." Yuzuki gave Kaimu a look and a glance over, sizing him up. If...when they left she could shift.... and then he'd get his clothes back and she could flee. Why was she doing this? Well... he had insulted her pride honestly. The day would end sometime, he seemed to dislike the masterness she was doing to him so he would be happy to see her gone...

She would lose this vagabond and continue her adventures in another district.

Kaimu gave another small, laugh; "I'm sure you would be, I'm just a bit cautious; the Rukon isn't all bad, but there are some pretty slimy people."

She claimed she'd be fine, but he couldn't help but feel concerned. Even if she was feeling better, she still probably had a bit of a cold and as he'd said, even if the people that'd been after her had given up, there were plenty of other people out there fully capable of trying to stop her from getting home...whether they wanted her dog form to sell for a high price, or if they wanted her to sell for a high price...there were all sorts of people out there and he'd never forgive himself if something were to happen to someone he considered a friend if he could have helped it.

"You are overly cautious Master." Yuzuki snorted more, rubbing her red nose lightly with her sleeve after as it itched it. Hmming after a moment, she rolled up this scroll and the others she had been using. Her eyes gleamed with appreciation but she also... couldn't spend all her time here.

Her plan needed to be put into motion. Holding them out to Kaimu, she kept her face and body utterly compose. "You should return these up where they belong, Master. I shall return another day, there is too much I need to note and not enough time or resources for me to do this now. I still appreciate your help and showing me this place."

Kaimu took the scrolls Yuzuki held out to him, giving a nod at her words. "I'm glad you found some things of interest, but yes, at least you'll know this place's location for when you want to come back to it."

The scrolls in hand, he moved to do as suggested, and began moving them back into their proper places.

Once Master was doing the work, Yuzuki smirked and... POOF! IN a flash of smoke, the woman disappeared and the Doge reappeared. She could shift again! The noble woman gave a happy little circle before dashing for the exit, heading out the front and out the doors to freedom.

No more silly whatever he was, he'd be free and she would of him. Dog form sneezed a bit but she ignored it and fled as fast as her doggy body would let her.

What was...?

Kaimu turned just in time to see a white fluff ball dart it's way out of the room. Had she!? She'd just run off!? So much for doing a good job at keeping an eye on her; great going, Kaimu. Quickly stuffing the final scroll back in it's place he as well moved to leave the building.

She'd...be alright, wouldn't she?
