Let's Go to the Mall

Once Aoi was in the car he moved to get in on the driver's side as he had before, buckling his seat belt before starting up the car and pulling out of the restaurant's parking lot and making his way towards the park.

"The park's are usually really pretty later in the day like now."

"It is getting darker out..." Aoi looked at the sky, they had been out a few hours at least so it was later afternoon. She couldn't imagine what it would look like at this time of day to just see it. "You prefer evening times? Maybe I should visit later in the day then."

She smiled and gave a small laugh. She really didn't know Rin's likes that much. Maybe she should learn?

"Well, it usually looks much more eye catching in the evening. When it's dark the lighting from the street lamps make it look nicer in a way. Though that might just be my preference talking." He chuckled. "You can visit whenever, whatever time of day is good for you."

"Ah its the artist thing... I like evening, the shadows make it easier to hide and people are less wary than full night." Aoi smiled and then frowned as she spoke. She just had to go saying such odd things around him.

"I-Its also supposed to be romantic too right? Not at all like my words."

"I suppose those are some advantages but yes, it is a more romantic atmosphere." He supposed the atmosphere was a bias not only to his artistic side but to his writer side as well considering his writing profession, though that was a bit more embarrassing to admit.

"I learned it from one of your books! They had a date in a park and their first kiss there, when it was in the evening." Aoi was so proud of herself as they pulled into the parking lot of the park. "Is that your dastardly plan? Take me somewhere romantic so I won't want to go, convince me to stay in your world with sweet kisses stolen under bending branches... It might work."

She teased just before they got out of the car, smiling.

Rin couldn't help but laugh, "I just thought it might be a nice place to just sit and stay for awhile, though I can't deny the atmosphere's romantic implications."

Getting out of the car after having parked and turned it off, he shut the door and smiled at Aoi.

"See? A nice atmosphere, perfect at night with good weather and a good edition to a successful date."

"O-Oh...you intended..." Aoi flushed as she looked around. She did have to admit with the lessening light, it was getting rather... pretty. It was also getting chillier, but she wouldn't admit it. Maybe her skimpy outfit wasn't the best...

"Hehe, it is rather nice." She smiled softly as she moved up to the entrance, looking around curiously for a few moments.

"I'm glad you think so." Rin responded, walking next to her towards the entrance of the area.

Glancing over at Aoi, he noticed her outfit wasn't really...good for this time of the day when it began getting colder. She hadn't said anything but it was still likely to get colder as it got darker. "Ah, wait a moment, Aoi. It'll probably get colder later, if you want I can get the spare coat I have out of the trunk of the car."

"Nope. You'll have to warm me with your body and kisses instead." Aoi gave a small laugh and then sped up her walk to get in front of him, turning around and walking backwards, watching Rin's face as they headed down a path. A few lights were turning on in the park, the trees keeping out the fading sunlight.

"Ooor I could finally show off! No one seems to care how flexible I am. I work hard to stay stretchy and its warming. In a pretty romantic park is the perfect place to."

"If you're sure my warmth is good enough." He replied, following as Aoi took steps ahead of him before turning around to walk backwards and talk to him.

He'd seen a small fraction of her flexibility before, sometimes when she'd gone to stand she'd show off some of it. "If you want I don't mind being your audience."

Aoi just tilted her head at his reply, smiling softly as she went back to his side. Taking his hand, she gently twined her fingers between his and brought his hand up to kiss the back of. As she did, the redhead looked up at him, matching her pace to his much longer stride. "Once we get in a ways..."

For now she wanted to watch the shadows play on his face as they walked. The park was nice but... she liked looking at Rin more.

"Alright." Rin agreed.

There were a few benches farther in, there were also plenty of larger trees that were nice to sit under, some of them were near the small pond that was also farther in. It was a popular little park in the day, but he preferred it when it was getting darker; in a way, it seemed more peaceful.

Stumbling over some rocks in her preoccupation with watching Rin, Aoi mde sure to look ahead. The shadows were making the park look...almost like a fairytail. Nothing so dramatic, though. It just gave it an air of mystery that she liked.

It kept her quiet as they walked, just enjoying his company. It wasn't often she got to do that... The Squad she had joined was friendly, so she was rarely ever truly alone. People stopped by and saw her and talked with her.

Seeing a few benches, she laughed though. Aoi never got to show off... She felt she was over do. If there was anything she was proud of with herself, it was things like this.

"Watch!" Taking a short running start, the girl flipped over to her hands and did a triple flip over and over to the bench. There she landed perfectly on the edge of the back, perfectly balanced on one hand, legs bent over her head.

Pushing off with her hand, she turned mid air to land on her feet on the bench. She wasn't even winded at all and shot Rin a happy smile. "Ahaha!"

He held a momentary expression of surprise at her sudden flips, as he knew that was a thing he'd never have the capacity to do in any lifetime, and it was something he really hadn't seen before. It must have taken a lot of practice to do things like, or did it come naturally?

"You doubted my abilities?" Aoi's mouth turned into a playful pout as she hopped down from the bench. There was more than enough room to do more... Bending in half, she lifted herself on her hands and walked a ways before flipping herself back up in one smooth movement. There was no doubt or hesitation in her actions, and she came up right close to Rin.

Tweaking his nose slightly, she stifled a giggle. "You can stop being in shock now, silly shiro-usa."

"I didn't doubt, I just ah...wasn't expecting that." Rin replied, a momentary moment of slight embarrassment just as Aoi tweaked his nose. "I just...It must have been hard to learn to do things like that...it seems almost impossible."

"Well, with the ambient abilities of a shinigami, plus a natural talent and tons of practice... It isn't impossible. Humans in your world do this too, but they have to have special areas to do them." Aoi moved close to Rin, grabbing both his hands and pulling him forward slowly.

She had to be touching him when near him. Aoi couldn't help it. "I think... I had to work at it from a young age. And my body type helps, as much as I'd like to look less...cutesy and more womanly, it really helps me with this stuff. I don't have much extra padding to get in the way or throw me off balance."

"I suppose so, I guess it's just incredible to me considering it's certainly something I'd never be able to do." He replied as Aoi took his hands and began pulling him forward.

She would prefer it if she were more womanly rather than cute, he couldn't exactly see why...as he preferred the cute her she was now, but he supposed it was a matter of opinion.

"At least there are advantages then, to not being more womanly...besides, I think I prefer you cute...at least, that's my opinion anyway." He ended with a small, light chuckle.

"You can craft a story that makes someone feel the emotions of the characters and devour it until they are done. That's magic and no amount of practice could let me do it..." Aoi closed her eyes and smiled. "I could help you try if you wanted to practice."

"H-huh?!" Aoi stuttered, stumbling back a bit as she stopped thinking about walking. She looked to the side and turned red a bit. "Y-You do?"

"I suppose so...there's always those things some people can and can't do while others can...H-huh? Ah, I don't believe that's something I'll ever accomplish to be honest." Rin responded, his final words in reply to Aoi's off of teaching him coming out a bit faster than usual. "I can't bend like that, not in the slightest."

Aoi stumbled back at his words; out of reflex, thinking she might trip, Rin's arm went out to grasp her before he bothered with answering her.

"Mhmm, I like you just the way you are. Cute." Rin smiled.

"But... its okay. It just..." Aoi could have gone on a long explanation about muscles and how slowly stretching them over time would help and he could if he wanted but... Rin reached an arm out to hold her and she just smiled, moving closer to him while shivering slightly.

She had to look up at him, even if she wanted to hide her face and the blush on it. Her blue eyes caught his yellow and she couldn't stand it. Her face went into his chest as her voice became muffled. "You really do... Don't you..."

Warm, it was so warm when he said such things. She felt like melting and getting away, while also never leaving his side.

Rin's smile softened some as Aoi tried to hide herself, hiding her face in his chest as she muttered out her next words.

"I do, I really do." He answered, his tone soft as one of his hands went up to gently pat her head.

Aoi leaned into the patting, trying to get more by nuzzling against the hand, her arms still wrapped around Rin as she shivered a bit more. "I suppose that's good that you like me how I am."

She laughed a bit eyes still closed. "I care for a silly human who always knows just what to say."

He wasn't sure if he always knew what to say, but he tried when he needed to.

"And I care for a cute shinigami, who's sweet, strong, and loves head petting."

His response wasn't exactly like her's had been, but still he felt it was satisfactory...as corny as it was. He gave a small chuckle as he continued patting her head like she liked.
